Sports Psychology Tips: 90% of People Will Fail this Year

Do you really want to succeed this year?

Nine out of ten people who have made New Year’s resolutions will fail.  And 30%+ won’t have even made it to the end of January.

Today, people have constant daily noise and distractions that make it difficult to focus. They go on to neglect themselves.  Yes they may set themselves a resolution – but this is after BRIEFLY thinking it through.

What they fail to do is give themselves enough time or seek professional advice on their resolutions. Many Sport Psychologists specialise in the goal setting process.

  • They help athletes plan in the long term.
  • Set clear SMART goals with clients for the medium and short term.
  • Evaluate the pro’s and con’s of different approaches towards the resolution or goal.
  • Your milestones and likely hurdles are discussed.
  • Key strategies and tactics are thought out.
  • Successes are mapped out too, with celebrations put in place.

All in all, resolutions for the most, are simply words.  How often at the start of a season or year do you see athletes all revved up and enthusiastic, thinking positively that they will have a great season or year.  Then in a matter of weeks they’re back to normality and they lose that zip.

It doesn’t have to be that way.  To get results, reflection time and action, massive action is required, and every day.  With some expert support you can use your time much more effectively.

Go on, be one of the 10% that goes on to raise the bar and achieve their goals…..
