Conversations with Kids - Week 16

For parents and guardians where we give you prompts so that you can have more meaningful conversations with your children to help them build key characteristics such as mental toughness, resilience, confidence, creativity, focus and so on.

A Question for your Kids

How often do you brush your teeth?

Conversations with kids habits

This week in our “Conversations with Kids” email we look at habit’s. It’s often said doing the boring things well, on a consistent basis, leads to success as this quote by James Clear suggests: “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”

Improves

  • Ambitions
  • Habits

Directions for Parents

The NHS advise that you should brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste twice a day for about 2 minutes to help keep your teeth and mouth healthy.  To avoid plaque build up and then possible gum disease and tooth decay.  So it’s fair to say brushing your teeth is a good habit!

In your sport, what are your long term goals? What daily habits do you need to commit too, to reach these goals? Chat about what things are positive practice or training habits.  And do these habits help you feel more confident or anxious before you compete.

Ideas for Kids

  1. Do the best athletes have small consistent habits that they commit to? What are they? Discuss the pros and cons of these habits.
  2. What do you consider your worst habit to be? Describe it in detail and when it shows up.
  3. What are the 3 most important things that you can start to do today to make your dreams reality?
